The old ways are a remedy

Stone of Scotland is run by Jason Stone, a guide and maker based near Fort William in the West Highlands. We guide people outdoors and make the kit to match: practical, organic, and built to strengthen your own capabilities.

From a foraging walk to an afternoon carving a bow, everything we do comes back to one idea: reconnecting with the land, the old skills, and yourself. We believe foraging, crafting, bushcraft, Historical European Martial Arts and ancestral self-reliance skills are an organic way for young and older folk alike to:

Redevelop a sense of comfort, play, acceptance and self-confidence
Have a positive influence on their biological rhythms
Co-regulate on a physical, mental and spiritual level

05 / Why wool

We like staying dry too. We're just not betting on it.

If you're out long enough, everything gets saturated. That's where wool thrives. Our aim isn't to stay dry indefinitely; it's for wet weather to have far less impact on your safety, comfort and warmth.

An "all eggs in one basket" approach to waterproofs might be the Achilles' heel of outdoor resilience. So we've stopped relying on synthetic fibres that lack the durability and insulation we need for days of sustained wet weather.
